Vintage Balinese Carved wood sculpture, wall panel Rama & Sita. Incredible vintage Balinese Carved tablet, or wall panel portraying Rama & Sita from the Ramayana Epic Saga. This stunning hand carved fruit wood. Tablet portrays the lovers Rama & Sita the loving husband and wife of Hindu lore are the 2 lovers of the Ramayana Epic poem, kind of the Romeo and Juliet of the Hindu literature. Sita is kidnapped by Ravana the evil king and brought to his island kingdom , Lanka, Rama &Lakshmana enlist the help of Hanuman the white monkey general to rescue Sita from Ravana's lair. Please take a moment to look at the workmanship in this piece, the depth of it this year, quality. And the jungle vegetation at the foot the over head tree detail is incredible. This is a very nice rare panel from Indonesia. Likely carved in Bali , mid 20th, century 1950s to 1980. Condition is very good for the age changing color of photos are due to the lighting conditions to show depths of car ving. Approximately 15" x 7 ", 1 inch and a half thick.
