Vintage Balinese Carved Wood Panel The Stork & Crab From The Tantri Kamandaka 14. Dear buyers, We are pleased to offer you this special piece. A profusely carved 3D wooden panel from Bali. It is a vintage example and likely dating to the 1970's. It features a scene from the story of the stork & the crab from the Panchatantra.

This is a moralistic tale of excess greed dating back as far as 300BCE and being incorporated in traditional tales around the region. From the Indonesian region it is known as Tantri Kamandaka. As you can see the carving is quite beautifully done and appears to be carved from a single plank. A great decorative item which will free stand or can be hung as required.

Height: 37 cm (14 5/8 inch). Width: 23 cm (9 inch). Depth: 4.4 cm (1 3/4 inch).
