Pair of Renaissance Style Carved Wood Panels Walnut Wood Carvings of Scrolls, Flowers & Oval Cartouche Mid to Late 1800s. Would make a great gift or keep it for yourself! You do not come across wood architectural pieces like these very often, let alone ones that match and were meant to complement each other. The carvings on each piece of flowers, leafing and the oval cartouche (crest) in the middle are very nicely done and the pieces to both are still there. We would guess the pair of wall carvings date to the mid to late 1800s period. The pair of wood panels, which are now wall hangings are very intricately carved.

We cannot ascertain a maker's mark anywhere on either one of the pieces. Probably of English origination with the use of the walnut wood. The panels were probably trim pieces on a very large architectural piece or a wall at one time. Amazingly, no shrinkage cracking on these pieces from the wood drying out, still look great. The pieces have hanging wire on them for placing them on a wall.

The panels have flat backs that show thru on the other side of the piece as the back. Each wood panel in frame is 21" tall, by 15" across, by 1.25 wide. The wood panel within the frame is 17.75" tall, by 11-15/16" across.
