Large Antique Chinese Qing Dynasty Carved Wood Panel Scholar, Chilong Dragons

  

A large antique Chinese Qing Dynasty carved wood square panel. Depicting 4 intertwined chilong dragons within the outer roundel, & a figural scene in the inner roundel depicting a seated scholar at a table probably studying, a walking lady & boy/attendant in the garden.

The panel is pieced/joined by 3 or 4 pieces, not a single board. Do not know what kind of wood. My fingernail cannot make a scratch, probably hardwood but not those high end type. Now mounted with a molded gilt-like frame, with a thick mirror backing.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: The whole piece is VERY HEAVY, due to the very thick mirror, weight almost 25 lbs overall. The mirror is about 3/16 inch thick as shown in a pic with a penny on it. If arrived intact, then it could be considered as a bonus & will have a much pleasant ending. In addition, the pattern/details of the frame is molded from plaster or wood filler putty type material, thus is quite fragile. With such a heavy mirror, from all the shakings during transit, it might cause further damages to the frame. Thus the frame is also NOT GUARANTEED for a safe arrival. For such a heavy piece of mirror, is certainly a very poor choice for the frame. 27 inches wide, 27 3/8 inches tall & 1 5/8 inch thick overall. The panel itself is approx.

24.5 inches wide, 24.75 inches tall. The panel is not flat-flat, thinner outside the roundel & thicker in the center, would say in average approx. 1.25inch +/-, as shown in a pic with a penny for comparison. Wood Panel: No damage, just the original carving imperfections/flaws such as saw marks, & age flaws such as scratches, rubs, old age cracks, vanish losses.

Frame: Big chip on upper right corner. Minor chips/nicks/flea bites in various molded areas. Minor rubs & scratches etc. COLOR: Please keep in mind that each monitor's brightness and color is a little bit different, it might show a little darker/brighter, or the colors might tint towards another color hue. Please see below for reason. Please DO NOT MAKE ANY ASSUMPTION.
