This lot includes four antique Chinese wood carvings that look to be fragments from a temple. Three are 8.75" long and one is 8.25" long. Each one is around 3" wide and around 1.75" deep. There is a pair of mirror matched foo dogs, and a pair of figural scenes. The figural scenes have modern hooks on the back to hang from the wall.
Each one is carved from wood, with a deep red lacquer over most of the surface, and a black lacquer background with reflective shell or mother of pearl pieces. They have wear, chips, cracks and repairs that you would expect from old wood pieces. Both foo dogs have evidence on the back from mice or squirrels gnawing at the wood. Each one has a wood piece that sticks out on the back, and three of the four have cracked. Two have been repaired with wood nails, and one with a rusty steel nail.
