A superb hand carved wood panel, large at 26" x 17" and 1 thick, and depicting a cloud bound chariot with Apollo, his wings so realistic, you wonder why his chariot is pulled by the butterflies or dragon flies. This is just a marvelous carving and was certainly part of a paneled wall or custom made piece of furniture. Would be fabulous framed and hung as art, but even more made into the door of a wall cabinet or recessed cabinet, wouldn't it?
Or just leaned there against your wall on a table top or kitchen backsplash. Entirely hand carved, of course, and is more sculpture in the bas relief of a very talented artist, indeed. Very good to excellent for age and type. No chips to the carving. There is a small age hairline marked to left of one of the panel photos with an x' for your review.It extends less than 2 and is not into the carved figure. Tempted to fill it, but will leave the decision to the next owner.
Depending on how you frame or build it into your project, it probably will just not even show. But we want you to know it is there. No warp, some light and old evidence of woodworm long ago treated and stopped. We'd put a date of c. Patina of the old wood is superb, too. We're easy to deal with.
