Exceptionnal Large 17th. C Hand Carved Wood Panel Pediment Wedding Trunk
C Hand Carved Wood Panel Pediment Wedding Trunk. An exceptional French antique wood panel dating to the late 17th century. It used to be a part of a wedding trunk/chest. The carving features a dove surrounding by two figures.
On each sides, there is the simmetrical frieze with another figure, a lion and a griffin/chimera. The marriage panel is hand carved in solid walnut wood. It is a beautiful example of wood carving in the 17th century. Very good antique condition with some signs of ages like an antique patina and some old wood worms. Please take a close look at the photos, they are an integral part of the description.It comes from France to you.
