Antique French Hand Carved Wooden Panel. His handsome antique French hand carved wooden panel shows a pelican above stylized birds and dolphins. The pelican in art often symbolizes self-sacrifice and charity and has been likened to Christ's sacrifice and self-offering in Christian art and tradition. Oak leaves, flowers and garlands of beads complete the design. This handsome piece shows small losses on the surface and three cracks, two at the top and one at the bottom, none of which affects the stability of the piece.
